| Q: |
I don't attend a studio. Can I still register for the workshop? |
| A: |
Yes! Independent entries are welcome to sign up for the workshop! In some cities, independent soloists may be allowed in the competition as well. Check your city page for details!
|
| Q: |
I attend a studio but they aren't able to make it to JUMP this year. I'd still like to go - can I register by myself? |
| A: |
Yes, you are welcome to register as an Independent dancer and still list your studio name on your registration.
|
| Q: |
I'm only interested in taking the workshop classes. Do I have to compete? |
| A: |
Dancers are not required to compete in order to participate in the workshop. However, dancers are required to be registered for the workshop in order to compete.
|
| Q: |
Do observer passes need to be purchased in advance? |
| A: |
Pre-registration is recommended but observer passes will also be available to purchase at the event. The observer pass fee is $40, whether purchased in advance or onsite. All observers must be attending with paid students only and may not be Teachers, Studio Owners or dancers. Observer passes are not needed for the JUMPstart room. Observers do not have access to the Teacher room or closed rehearsals at any time. Observer passes are not needed for The JUMP Off, the competition or for the Closing Show.
Observers must keep the following in mind:
* Please make sure passes are visible for the JUMP staff at all times during the workshop classes in
the Senior, Teen, Junior & Mini rooms.
* Sit and keep all belongings as far back against the walls as possible to provide the maximum amount of room for the dancers.
* No excessive noise or talking during the classes. It can be distracting to the dancers and teacher.
* NO videotaping or photography allowed at any point during the workshop classes. Still photos can be taken in between classes,
with the faculty, etc.
* One-day passes are not available.

| Q: |
My daughter is technically a Junior (for example) by age, but she's very advanced for her age. Can she register for the Teen room? |
| A: |
We want dancers to get as much as possible out of the workshop classes. If the dancer's teacher feels that they are ready to move up a level, the dancer is welcome to register for whichever workshop room he or she feels they will benefit from the most. Keep in mind that all dancers must be in the age-appropriate room for the VIP Audition and preceding audition combo class.
|
| Q: |
I registered my studio for the workshop and competition prior to the 30-day deadline. It is now within 30 days of the event, and I'd like to add a dancer and one more routine. Am I still eligible for the early tuition rates? |
| A: |
No, any additions made within 30 days of the event are subject to the full tuition rates.
|
| Q: |
Do dancers' birthdates have to be included on the workshop registration form if they're not competing? |
| A: |
Yes, ages (as of January 1, 2013) are used to determine scholarship numbers that are to be worn during all of the workshop classes and especially during the VIP Auditions. If birth dates are not indicated on the registration form, dancers may receive scholarship numbers in the wrong age category or not at all.
|
| Q: |
Do you have onsite registration? |
| A: |
Both the workshop and competition sell out in most cities. Pre-Registration online or by mail, 30 days prior to the event, is strongly recommended.
|
| Q: |
Will all of the faculty be in every city? |
| A: |
The entire JUMP faculty is scheduled to teach in every city. However, since they are often also choreographing or dancing on professional jobs, their schedules sometimes pull them away from JUMP at the last minute. On the rare occasion a faculty member is called away, JUMP will replace him/her with an equally qualified professional.
|
| Q: |
I was unable to use my Class Scholarship at any of the Intensives offered this year. Can I use it towards JUMP? |
| A: |
Class Scholarships can only be used towards the tuition of Break The Floor Productions' Intensives and cannot be applied towards the JUMP workshop and/or competition - NO EXCEPTIONS.
|
| Q: |
Where do I go to check in when I arrive at JUMP? |
| A: |
Studio owners and teachers pick up their entire studio's registration packet at the JUMP desk. These packets include all of the dancers' scholarship numbers and wristbands. Dancers do not need to check in individually, unless registered independently.
|
| Q: |
What types of classes are offered? |
| A: |
JUMP is proud to offer a wide variety of dance styles and levels including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz Funk and Musical Theater. Please bring all appropriate dance shoes!
|
| Q: |
When are the VIP scholarship auditions? |
| A: |
For Teens & Seniors, the VIP Audition takes place on Saturday morning. The audition combo class is usually the third class of the day, immediately followed by the VIP Audition.
For Juniors & Minis, the audition takes place on Saturday afternoon. The VIP Audition is the last workshop "class" of the day and is preceded by the audition combo class.
|
| Q: |
My teacher doesn't arrive until late Friday night but I compete on Friday afternoon. Will I still be able to perform and take classes Friday night? |
| A: |
We understand that traveling on Friday can be a bit crazy and that students and teachers may not all arrive at the same time. If you are competing on Friday, you will only need to turn in your music at the JUMP desk and be sure to check in backstage 15 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time. You will still be allowed to participate in the Friday night classes and you will not need your scholarship number or wristband until the start of classes on Saturday morning.
|
| Q: |
Are there copies of the competition order available at the event? |
| A: |
Competition programs are available to purchase for $5 (cash only) at the JUMP store.
|
| Q: |
I have a routine with an average age of 6. Can it still compete? |
| A: |
No, routines must have an average age of 7+ in order to compete.
|
| Q: |
What is the Closing Show? |
| A: |
We conclude each weekend with a show in the main ballroom. JUMP's show will include faculty performances, the Best In Studio and Best Of JUMP Award Winners, the JUMP VIPs, special guests and MORE! Observer passes are not needed. Seating will be on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be reserved seating for Teachers and Studio Owners.
|
| Q: |
Does JUMP provide lunch for the dancers? |
| A: |
We always do our best to make sure there are food options available at our venues. When there aren't easily accessible restaurants, delis, etc., concession stands will be available for Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday and Sunday. We recommend that dancers bring water and snacks for in between classes.
|
| Q: |
Am I allowed to take photos of my child in class? |
| A: |
Photography and videotaping during the classes and competition is strictly prohibited. Due to advancing technology of video on cameras and cell phones, we are forced to prohibit ALL camera use during JUMP's Classes, Competition and Closing Show. This includes ALL still photography, with or without flash. This is done to protect the rights of the choreographer, to protect the children's safety and to make it possible for JUMP to offer a full photo and video service. Still photos can be taken in between classes, with the faculty, etc.
|
| Q: |
I'd like to order some pictures and videos from the competition. How do I go about placing an order? |
| A: |
Orders can be placed, and often even filled, onsite at the JUMP Photo/Video booth. If you're interested in placing an order after the event, previews are not available online, but you can contact the Break The Floor Productions' media department by calling (212) 397-3600 Ext. 25.
|
| Q: |
Where can I find a list of the songs that the faculty used in their classes? |
| A: |
One week after each event, a full playlist of all of the music used in the previous weekend's classes will be posted on the corresponding city page.
|
| Q: |
I didn't get a chance to purchase any merchandise at the event. Can I buy it online? |
| A: |
Unfortunately, merchandise is only available onsite. We do not take online orders at this time.
