VIP Scholarships

At JUMP, all Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior dancers (ages 8-19) that are registered for the full workshop will be participating in the JUMP VIP Scholarship Audition Class. Dancers must audition by their age as of January 1, 2017. ALL DANCERS MUST BE IN THEIR "AGE APPROPRIATE" ROOM FOR THE VIP AUDITION AS WELL AS THE PRECEDING AUDITION COMBO CLASS. During the class prior to the audition, students will learn a jazz or contemporary routine. During the audition, the dancers will be broken up into groups and the JUMP faculty will evaluate. Students will be chosen by the faculty in each of the following age groups: Mini (8-10), Junior (11-12), Teen (13-15) and Senior (16-19). The selected students will be announced at the end of the audition. These students will be the "JUMP VIPs"! All JUMP VIPs will be called up on stage at the end of the Closing Show on Sunday afternoon and the winners and remaining runners-up in each age division will be announced. Male & Female JUMP VIPs will be judged and awarded separately. PLEASE NOTE: Dancers must attend ALL classes and wear their scholarship numbers for all of Saturday's and Sunday's classes.

Once you are a JUMP VIP Winner in one regional city, you are not eligible to be a JUMP VIP Winner in another city. JUMP VIP Runners-Up may continue to audition in other cities to become a JUMP VIP Winner.

If you have previously won a Best Dancer title (not runner-up) at The Dance Awards, you must wait one full year before auditioning to be a JUMP VIP again. In addition, you must also wait until you are in the next age division up before auditioning to be a JUMP VIP again.

Class Scholarships

In every regional city, each faculty member will be awarding scholarships in each of their individual classes to dancers that excel at their particular style. This will give students the opportunity to receive scholarships in all disciplines of dance: tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, ballet, etc. Class Scholarships can be awarded to any dancer, ages 8-19, in the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior workshop levels. The number of scholarship winners may vary depending on convention size and skill level. Dancers are eligible for only one class scholarship per season. One day students are not eligible for Class Scholarships.

All Class Scholarship recipients receive:

  • $250 scholarship to a 2017 DancerPalooza Intensive.
  • IMPORTANT: Winning a Class Scholarship does not make a dancer eligible to compete in the 2017 Best Dancer Competition at The Dance Awards. However, a Class Scholarship Winner may still audition in other cities to become a Regional VIP, thereby making them eligible to compete in the 2017 Best Dancer Competition at The Dance Awards.

Studio Scholarships

Each studio that brings 10 or more paying dancers to the workshop will receive a JUMP Studio Scholarship, which was started as a tool for studio owners to help their dancers connect the convention experience with their studio experience. The Studio Scholarship allows one dancer from each studio to come back to one JUMP workshop during the 2017-2018 regional season, free of charge!

Rock Star Scholarships

In every regional city, each faculty member will select one dancer who stands out above the rest. This dancer may be someone who excels in class or someone who shows a lot of potential. The Rock Star Scholarship recipient can come back to one JUMP workshop during the 2017-2018 regional season, free of charge! Rock Star Scholarships can be awarded to any dancer, ages 8-19, in the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior workshop levels. Dancers are eligible for only one Rock Star Scholarship per season. One day dancers and JUMP VIP Winners are not eligible for Rock Star Scholarships.

Scholarship Guidelines

All ages are as of January 1, 2017.

All scholarships must be used before the expiration date printed on the scholarship voucher. VIP and/or Class Scholarships cannot be extended. NO EXCEPTIONS.

One day students are not eligible for any scholarships (VIP or Class).

The Dance Awards Workshop Scholarships may be used for the 2017 Dance Awards ONLY.

If you have previously won a Best Dancer title (not runner-up) at The Dance Awards, you must wait one full year before auditioning to be a JUMP VIP again. In addition, you must also wait until you are in the next age division up before auditioning to be a JUMP VIP again.

Once you are a JUMP VIP Winner in one regional city, you are not eligible to be a JUMP VIP (Winner or Runner-Up) or Class Scholarship Winner in another city. JUMP VIP Runners-up may continue to audition in other cities to become a JUMP VIP Winner.

Dancers' scholarship numbers are generated for each specific age division, with all ages being as of January 1, 2017. Please verify your JUMP registration confirmation to ensure that the correct birthdate is on file and that dancers receive an age-appropriate scholarship number.

Teachers may register dancers for whichever workshop level they feel the dancer will benefit from the most. However, ALL dancers MUST be in the age-appropriate room during the VIP Audition Combo Class as well as the actual VIP Audition. Any dancers auditioning with the wrong workshop level will not be eligible for any VIP scholarships.

When a dancer wins a scholarship with one studio, he/she cannot utilize the scholarship as an "independent" or with another studio, without the permission of the original studio owner.

Scholarships are not transferable. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Dancers ages 20+ are not eligible for any scholarships (VIP or Class).
